I (heart) Youtube
Homeschooling in the digital age is so different than it used to be. Like when Lluvi wants to know how rhinos give birth... and I have no idea... all you have to do is search for it on youtube and there it is. And also bats and whales and giraffes.

birthday morning
On her birthday, I told Lluvia she was 5 now and she said, "I am? I couldn't even tell."

Love Fest

Lluvia has been so sweet recently. She has been telling me over and over how much she loves me and likes to spend time with me.
Which is really nice because I am getting mentally fatigued of waiting for this baby. I know she will come when she's ready, but *I* am so ready. Ah, well, "the bird of paradise alights only on the hand that does not grasp," right?

Cute skirt + lluvi love
Here's the pic of the skirt I made her, finally. It was a little restricting since I didn't think to put a slit in it, but she figured out how to run and play in it and didn't take it off for a couple of days, so I think it passed the test.
Here's what Lluvi said to me today about why she loved me:
-your belly is pushy
-you have a baby in your belly
-your brown eyes are so beautiful
-when i say i love you, you say it back
and the list went on, but those were the cutest/funniest ones.

Sewing wish list
Making some skirts for Lluvi and the babe tonight and I have come up with some things that would be helpful:
Seam ripper -- very necessary given my skills and level of distractedness!
iron -- i'm usually too lazy to iron anyway, but i know it makes things go so much better
I'll post my creations later.

Tarot reading for Lluvi

A friend of ours read our tarot (thanks, Hoa!) and this is the short version of Lluvi's. Amazingly accurate, I would say:
Past: a card for growing and maturing
Present situation, soon to be resolved: Worries and anxieties will be put to rest
Future: a feeling of intense competition
It made me sad to think of "intense competition" but I guess that is par for the course with a new baby...
Mine was much longer and more complex -- not really the stuff of a blog post.
the opposite of a lullaby
What do you call a song designed to wake you up in the morning? Not sure, but Lluvia serenaded me this morning while we were cuddling and I was trying to catch a few more winks. Since I sing her an eclectic collection of "lullabies," she sang her own versions of "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore," "I'm gonna lay down my sword and shield," and "Puppy, puppy (the thingsicle song)".

Suprise in the mail
My aunt sent me something for the baby -- a baby blanket and booties my mom and I made for my cousin's baby when I was a teenager! I was so excited to see them again. We were in Mexico that summer and everyone thought we were crazy making a black baby blanket... but it looks so beautiful. I have really great memories of working on this... now if only i could get back the awesome full size quilt that we made for my boyfriend when I was 14 :)

oh, jonnhy cash...
Lluvia, singing "Ring of Fire" at the top of her lungs, with a dangling leaf from our potted plant as her headset & microphone, says "Oops, my brain turned off."

happy thoughts
Lluvi said "I love living in this apartment. I'm so glad we moved here," in complete innocence. She is such a simple soul -- and I mean that in the best possible way!

While snuggling on the couch....
Lluvi said, "Love is everywhere." What a nice motto. I completely agree.

creative play
Lluvi wanted a mama and baby kangaroo and we didn't have any, so she created one out of a penguin w/a balloon taped to the belly as a pouch and the baby in the pouch is a Homie. She does demand a lot of things but her demands are pretty easily satisfied!

lluvi draws our family
Here is a picture of us after the baby is born, cleaned up and put in a sling. I am on the phone with Lidai. The next picture is Lidai talking to us on the phone and the pink dots on the top are the words "Hello, I'll see you when the baby is ready to travel because I'm in San Francisco." Way cute... I can't believe how much her drawing has evolved recently.

Playdoh creations
Here's one of the playdoh menageries we've created. I really don't mind making her a whole family (mama and three babies) of snakes or somethings, but I am getting really tired of making a whole set of raccoons or cheetahs, only to have to make a new set out of the same playdoh the same day! If only this were a marketable skill...
Dalmation-pug?
Lluvia really wanted a stuffed pug from Hobby Lobby the other day, so I tried to make her one. It's sort of cute in that so-ugly-its-cute way. I started making it with no forethought at the laundromat, so if I put in a little more effort next time it would probably be pretty decent. Luckily, Lluvi thought it was great.
